Homemade Tap Shoes

I love this idea! I was always tempted to get some of those little squeaker shoes for Jack, but I knew they'd only be cute for about 5 min. - and even less than that for those shopping in the grocery store with us. These are a fun alternative, and easy removable and thus, easily silenced. Here's the how-to from Martha Stewart:

Clack out a beat with dancing feet: Bottle caps transform everyday footwear into ear-pleasing tap shoes. Use two same-size metal tops about 1 1/2 inches wide. With an awl, punch two holes through the top of each cap; they should be about 3/4 inch apart. Thread string or twine through the holes so both ends come out on the inside of the cap. Attach string to shoes by weaving through shoelaces and tying securely.

DIY: A-Frame Tent

My little guy loves it when we toss a blanket over the furniture to make a tent. I think he'd really have a blast in this! It looks relatively easy to construct and can fold up for easy out-of-the-way storage. I'd have to find a manlier fabric, of course, though I love the vintage floral sheet she used here.

Monday Musings - Imagination vs Knowledge

Initially I liked this quote and thought it would be a good one for today. But then I started thinking about it, and I'm not really sure it is completely accurate – because I don't think either imagination or knowledge can really reach their full potential without the other. You may have imagination but lack the knowledge to make it reality. On the other hand, you may have tons of knowledge, but without a little imagination, you're of no better use than a dusty book on a shelf that's never read. I'll take a healthy dose of both, if you please.

And that, folks, is about as deep as I get on a Monday.

Just Being Audrey

This book has recently been added to my wish list. The Illustrations are just lovely and truly capture the essence of the lady that she was.

I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan (who isn't, really?). She was beautiful long before we had Photoshop to help us look beautiful. And I hear she was a pretty neat person on the inside too…

Branch and Bird Puzzle

I love this puzzle from Anthropologie. I can't justify it right now since it's a little beyond my 2 yr. old - though he'd totally be into all the birds and leaves. It's so cute, I'd be tempted to leave it out all the time!
