This year for Thanksgiving there were two meals planned at my parents', one yesterday at lunch with just the more immediate family, and one on Sunday night with the rest of the extended family. So for lunch yesterday, Mom decided to forego the turkey and made my Grandmother Gogie's special chicken spaghetti. It's a family tradition and a favorite, so nobody complained. I LOVE this spaghetti, and since I only get to have it a couple of times a year, I had really been looking forward to it. It is a unique recipe - absolutely delicious, but it's more than that to me. It reminds me of being a kid and of my grandmother and sitting around her dining room table with the family during the holidays. To make it even more special, Mom decided to serve it on some of my great grandmother's china. Gotta hand it to Mom, she really knows how to host a warm inviting family dinner that we all love to come home to.
The best part is Mom always makes WAY too much so that we can all be sufficiently loaded down with leftovers to take home. Needless to say, I had it for lunch and dinner today and am still thinking about it... I'd post a pic, but it's not very photogenic. Just picture cheesy noodley goodness. :)
